Glass Fibre Tapes

E-glass fibre is the most commonly used reinforcing material in composites. E-glass is reasonably priced and has great mechanical, heat, dielectric and chemical chracteristics. Strength properties correspond with those of some metals (i.e., aluminium alloys), though specific weight is less than that of metals.  Glass fibre is incombustible, temperature resistant to 400 degrees, сResistant against most chemicals and weather conditions. Glass fibre price in comparison with price of other reinforcing fibres is significantly lower.


General characteristics:

  • In contrast to carbon fiber, glass can undergo more elongation before it breaks

  • no stretch or shrink after exposure extremely high or low temperatures

  • no physical or chemical change in water contact allows
  • Flexibility in the design of low price
  • not flammable or oxidising
  • retains about 25% of its original strength after short-term about 537 ° C
  • little or no response to most chemicals
  • no mildew, rot or not rot
  • resistant to hydrofluoric acid, hot phosphoric acid and strong alkalis
  • excellent material for electrical insulation
  • low thermal expansion coefficient
  • good thermal insulation
  • high thermal conductivity
  • no contact corrosion due to electrochemical effects
